Everythings good

Remy and Gitana are both just fine. I haven't progressed Gitana on her litter kwitter training at all since my husband and I have decided to buy a house (and I'll basically have to start from the beginning again on a new toilet) but she's using it on step two religiously! Remy's getting around well and his upper body has buffed up. Maybe if our new house has a basement I can put a treadmill in there and put him on it daily to work his back legs. We'll see. Haven't gone shopping yet but its on our todo list. I have started volunteering at Tabby's place (www.tabbysplace.org) and love it! It doesn't feel like a chore, I feel good doing it and I leave there so happy!

That's about it for now. I'm thinking of transfering this over to Wordpress since I really doubt I'll have much time to fix it up like I would want to. I also want to post some pictures but right now would have to manually upload them to the server. Something for me to think about....

Little update

Both the kitties are doing well. This update is not about Remy, its about Gitana. I have been toilet training her using litter kwitter and i'm on the second step. I've been on the second step for about 2-3 weeks now and she has been urinating in it but pooping behind the toilet. I would pick it up and put it on the litter kwitter rings and make her smell it, but still behind the toilet she went... I was losing hope than yesterday, on her own, she got up on the toilet and pooped! I was soooo happy! Now lets see if we can have a repeat! :)

no news

is good news! Nothing to report, both the kitties are doing well. I'm going to start removing rings on the litter kwitter for Gitana. They're both in good spirits and health :)

On the other hand, I wanted to share this with you: http://www.tabbysplace.org/TP/products/Tashi/Tashi-birthday-1.php. This lovely kitty, Tashi, was born with a genetic defect that left him incontinent and his back legs paralysed. Look at the progress! He's walking! He also looks a lot like Remy! I wish I had the time to train Remy 3 times a day!

I'm back

...and both the kitties are doing well. *sigh of relief* Remy may not be out of the woods yet, but there's no more blood in his urine. He's due for another urine check towards the end of the week and we'll know then if it has completely cleared.

Gitana's just glad I'm back home :) and I was very happy to see her go straight to the toilet after I brought her back from the vet. I thought she may get used to using a litter box again and forget the toilet. Now I'll give her a couple of weeks and start removing rings.

My heart was in my throat when I went to the vet on Sunday worrying that something might have happened to one of them while I was away but they're both fine and happily at home :)

Little scare

All was well in the household going into last week. Both kitties were thriving, I was really busy with wedding, work, and regular chores. (I'm leaving for Mexico this week so there was plenty to do.)

As I expressed Remy Wednesday morning, I noticed a couple of drops of blood in his urine. My heart sank. Now, he's acting normally, just previous night had had chased a bug! He's not acting sick at all. I had to go to work, especially since I already had a vacation planned. I called and made an apt with the vet. When I got home, he had bled/peed through his diaper onto the wee pad. I rushed him to the vet even though his apt wasn't for another 2 hours. The vet sees him, says basically that there are a number of factors that can cause it, need to do a urine sample and put him on antibiotics. (The vet was actually surprised that it hadn't happened sooner in his condition.) I've been forcing the antibiotic down his throat 2 times a day since Wednesday. He doesn't like it. And it doesn't seem to agree with stomache either, he's thrown up several times over the weekend but there's no more blood in his urine! Otherwise, his personality is unchanged. He eats all his food and MEOWS for attention everytime he sees me.

Sometime next week, while I'm in Mexico and he's at the doctor, he'll get another urine sample to see if its all clear or if he needs to stay on the antibiotics for a little while longer. I'll post after....
